Bourbon BBQ Sauce

recipe adapted from this
1/2 onion, minced
4 t minced garlic
3/4 c whiskey
1/3 c Even Williams Honey Reserve, or other honey whiskey (we may have added more)
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t salt
2 c ketchup
1/4 c tomato paste
1/3 c cider vinegar
2 T liquid smoke (I had hickory flavor)
1/4 c Worcestershire
1/2 c packed brown sugar (we used more)
1 t hot sauce
1 T honey

In large skillet over medium heat, combine onion, garlic, and whiskey. Simmer for ~10min, till onion is cooked.
Mix in all the rest of the ingredients and simmer for ~20 min.
