recipe made from a combo of this and this
INGREDIENTS: (makes 4)
4 cube steaks
1.5 c whole milk
2 large eggs
2 packets sausage/country gravy mix (or pre-made gravy)
seasonings to rub on meat (or use seasoning salt/pepper)
1.5 c flour (have some extra on hand if needed)
cayenne, seasoning salt, pepper (to taste)
canola oil (or veg oil).
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat a layer of oil in a medium/large skillet. Don't put too much oil cuz you can always add more. I think I had 1/4" deep and it was too much.
Meanwhile, whisk the eggs and milk in a bowl.
In a second bowl, combine the flour and spices.
Dip each cube steak in the milk mixture, then the flour mixture, then repeat (double dip).
Fry steaks in the oil on each side until cooked. Drain on paper towel afterward.
Prepare gravy according to packet directions. (You can make gravy out of the leftover grease combined with flour/milk, but that is too gross for me).
Serve steaks with gravy on top.
